5 Exciting Stuff Coming to Microsoft Teams in the First Half of 2023?

Microsoft Teams is now one of the best communication platforms for businesses and organisations. It brings together all the required elements to ensure smooth communication under one roof. The usage of Microsoft Teams in recent times is higher than it had ever been. According to Statista, the number of MS Microsoft ms users has increased from 145 million in 2021 to 270 million in 2022, quite a jump!

Considering the high demand and new requirements, Microsoft Teams is continuously coming up with updates and enhancements. The update process for Desktop clients starts on the fourth Monday of each month.

This article covers some of the most exciting features that are under development specifically for Microsoft Teams.

Up to 10,000 Users in Distribution Lists for Lobby Policy

Currently, upon setting the lobby policy to Invited Users Only, Microsoft Teams recognises and allows only the first 1,000 users of the provided Distribution List to go through the lobby. It stands troublesome for meetings with a larger audience.

Microsoft Teams is on its way to rolling out the policy to recognise and allow up to 10,000 users of the Distribution List to go through the lobby.

The update is estimated to be available for users by March 2023.

Mention Everyone in the Chat

Presently, if you intend to mention everyone in the chat, there is no option. You must mention every person individually.

This issue will be resolved by Microsoft Teams update of allowing the mention of all the members of chat using @Everyone. This way, each of the members will receive a notification avoiding the hassle of mentioning everyone individually.

The update is estimated to be available for users by February 2023.

Enhanced Workspace Management

Currently, there is no mechanism for an admin person to check the conformance to standards by all the connected devices from distinct locations. It makes it hard to manage and monitor the devices at various locations.

This issue will be resolved by the upcoming update of Microsoft Teams to have a combined view of connected devices within the Teams Admin Center. Administrators can preview the devices based on their locations along with the insights like workspace health and usage. It also ensures that the devices are abiding by corporate standards.

The update is estimated to be available for users by April 2023.

Automatic Lowering of Raised Hand After Voice Detection

This one is a really cool and most-needed feature!

Presently, the user can raise their virtual hand to speak during the meeting. However, the hand stays raised until the user manually lowers it. Since a user may forget to lower the hand afterwards, it can lead to a lot of raised hands.

This issue will be resolved by Microsoft Teams update to prompt the user if they want to lower their hand after the detection of them speaking in the meeting. The user can choose to keep the hand raised. However, if there is no response, the hand will be automatically lowered after some time.

The update is estimated to be available for users by March 2023.

Reporting for Suspicious Messages in Microsoft Teams

Currently, the users are unable to report suspicious Microsoft Teams messages that can pose potential security threats.

It raises the concern of organizations being unable to protect themselves from attacks in Microsoft Teams. This concern will be resolved by allowing the end users to report suspicious messages as a threat. The mechanism will be similar to reporting a suspicious email.

The update is estimated to be available for users by July 2023.

These are some of the many features that are on the way to Microsoft Teams. Keep yourself informed before they are released to your Microsoft Teams environment.
