Master your Meetings in Microsoft Teams

MS Teams is an extensive communication platform. It allows the organizations to have seamless communication between the departments. From personal chats to channels and meeting scheduler to notifications, MS Teams has a lot to explore.

This article covers the details of meetings in MS Teams and the basics of the Calendar tab in the application, along with its related functionalities.

Calendar Tab in MS Teams

To access the details of your meetings and day-to-day calendar details, navigate to the Calendar tab. The following image shows the overview of this tab:

If your Calendar tab is not visible in the desktop application, you can do so by clicking on Apps in the left sidebar. Search Calendar and click on the Add for me button.

Let’s explore the details of each element on this page:  

Calendar Tab in MS Teams

1.     Calendar

This tab displays all the scheduled meetings and an overview of your work week. You can create new meetings and join the existing ones from here as well. The sections ahead cover the detail of each component on the page.

2.     Today’s View

Click on this button to jump directly to the view of the current day.

3.     Arrow icons

Click on the arrow icons to go to the view of the previous and next work weeks, respectively.   

4.     Jump to a Specific Date

Click on the button to expand a calendar. From the calendar, you can jump to the overview of any specific date.

Join a meeting with an ID Option in MS Teams

5.     Join with an ID

Click on this button to join a meeting with an ID. It’s important to have a meeting ID and a passcode to join the meeting via this option. To do so, follow the steps below:

1)    Enter the Meeting ID.

2)    Enter the Meeting passcode.

3)    Click on the Join meeting button.

4)    It will take you directly to the meeting screen.

6.     Meet Now

Click on this button to start a meeting at the present time. It is effective for unscheduled meetings. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Enter the Meeting name.

  2. Click on this button to copy the meeting link. Share this link with meeting participants so that they can join the meeting.

  3. Click on the Start meeting button to directly navigate to the meeting page.

7.     New Meeting

Click on this button to open the options of Schedule meeting, Live event, and Webinar. The MS Teams meeting scheduler is a great tool and comes in handy to ensure the presence of all participants by tracking the common free slots.

8.     Work Week

Click on this to change the view of the calendar. You can switch the view to Day, Work week, or Week. It will change the display of your calendar accordingly.

9.     Date

The first row of the calendar displays the date and day to refer to. It helps get an overview of the meetings and schedule for a specific day.

10.  Scheduled Meetings

This is an example of a scheduled meeting. All your scheduled meetings will display on the calendar in the same way. You can gain an idea of the meeting time from the left pane of the calendar that displays the time slots.
